Comment

Long, Emmanuel Guillaud thought he was a photographer. But his pictures are just raw material to create labyrinthine installations made of synchronized slideshows and sculptures of neon lighted pictures. Visitors are invited to wander freely yet, their movements are always constrained by tangled screens, floating pictures, projectors’ lights cutting through shadows and silence. Guillaud engulfs visitors in dark environments that mirror his own struggles between quest for freedom and the reality of being entrapped in dense, interlaced, interiorized networks of constraints. He researches the aesthetics of projected photography to unleash the poetical and political power of phantasmagorias.
