Aki Nagasaka is an artist, currently based in Osaka, Japan. She takes interests in people, objects, and events she personally encounters, and researches their cultural and historical backgrounds from many diverse perspectives. Using her own experiences, she endeavors to weave the seemingly independent and disparate research materials into a story, which explores the subject from a different perspective and implying uncertainty of the recorded histories. While having storytelling as the main medium, she expands the story into an installation with other media such as sculpture, photograph, video, sound, and performance. Along her solo projects, she participates in different collaborative projects and book projects, and does translation specializing in art texts.

Comment

I am excited to start a collaboration project with Elisa Caldana. I think Tokyo is a great research ground for the first installment of our project. I hope our project will gain momentum in Tokyo and continue on in other cities in the world.
