【TOKAS Hongo】Announcement of successful candidates for TOKAS-Emerging 2019
The aim of the residency is to explore the potential of cultural robotics in which robots are not simply industrial machines, but have a great capacity to contribute to society and culture. My interest in robotics stems from a fascination with how people interact with technology and what characteristics of technology condition the way we experience technology. Japan is a leader in the field of robotics and the residency will provide the opportunity to collaborate with individuals based in Tokyo working at the forefront of the field.
During the residency I will meet researchers at AIST, Tokyo University, Waseda University and KIEO University. In addition to these researchers who are examining robotics from varying perspectives, I will also meet Japanese artists who utilise robotic technologies or concepts in their practice.
