Artist Talk by Jérôme Fortin, artist from Quebec.
He links his artworks and "Wunderkammer"(means "miracle chamber" in German, private museum in 17th century) as well as consumeristic society in 20th century. He turns corks, plastic bottles, books, match, cans, nails into the beautiful flowers, seashells or charms, which were considered as the exotic things and used to be corrected in 17th century. That poetic and mysterious artworks are no longer recognize us they are made of everyday item and satisfy our interest as beautiful artworks.
Fortin has mentioned that he provided the idea of using everyday item to create artworks from his desire for collecting, saving and exhibiting on impulse.
His recent works such as ≪Loneliness≫(scrap of novels and comics) or ≪The Site of Ocean≫(Wall art made of colored plastic bottle) are his most decorative artworks.
