For a limited time the "TRANCEPARENT" installation surfaces at kurage, a café in the middle of Shibuya's Koen-dori that was named after the Japanese word for jellyfish, a creature that floats near the ocean surface on the boundary between the sea and the sky. The display was produced by Takashi Kuribayashi, an artist who has previously exhibited works made from moss and fern. With support from the indigo dyeing artist duo LITMUS, and the "coceworks" creative collective that Kuribayashi himself is a member of, he presents a gradually transforming piece of art combining moss and indigo, along with video footage and photographs shown at the café to document the creation process, as well as various events and workshops that are planned as part of the project. In direct touch with nature on their surfboards at daytime, the artists in charge have cultivated a lifestyle and sensibility that visitors to the exquisite space of recreation and amazement they have set up here can experience while enjoying food and drinks. Details will occasionally be announced via the project's website and blog.
* This event is part of a series of environmentally themed projects launched and carried out in connection with other projects by Tokyo Wonder Site since 2008.
