This workshop delves into the way we engage with music by plunging headlong into the surprise and confusion that comes from encountering new and unfamiliar sounds. To access the joy concealed in cryptic works, created with the goal of presenting “new sounds” no one has ever heard, participants experience a new piece by composer Yamamoto Kazutomo, and the appealing and disturbing aspects of the music are explored through a three-way dialogue from the vantage points of composer, performer, and listener.
