Purpose of the residency

I would like to take the opportunity of the program at TWS to commence and explore further on the theme of " Fragments of the Memories " which coincide with my recent interest in aspects of Japanese modern-contemporary history after the Meiji period following the enlightenment. I would commence this project with personal critical insights, deemed relevant to me, particularly as a Japanese national in her own homeland. Moreover, this crucial time in Japan will effect and become great parts of my work.

Plan during the residency

First of all, I will start researching for my projects "Fragments of the Memories" specifically in terms of post Meiji and the current affair, i.e., society, politics and how those reflect in architecture and landscape at the National Diet Library in Tokyo. I also visit the libraries and archives of major and international institutions in Tokyo as well as in other parts of Japan. Through documents and also researching on the Internet and the Japanese press, I will gain my initial inspirations that enable me to find a direction. Moreover, I could take the opportunity facilitated by TWS, to hold discussions about subjects with other international artists and audiences that will engage and become vital seeds to procreate my project.
