Purpose of the residency

It is my great honor to spend time and develop my work in the place that has very unique natural environment and consciousness toward nature. After the 3.11 disaster, I have carried out a project in collaboration with various artists in order to envision the possible way of energy in the future. This program at RMIT, which has both art and engineering course, has many benefits for introducing and developing the project. In addition, people in Australia recently confronted the flood damage in Brisbane, and also in Japan after the 3.11 disaster, the relationship between human life-activities and water has been severely questioned. So I truly hope that we can share the similar awareness and think of the new vision of our lives being with nature.

Plan during the residency

In this program, I plan to research on how the flood damage in Brisbane is received by people in Australia while sharing the 3.11 earthquake's experience of natural disaster. In addition, by using the benefit of RMIT which has both art and engineering courses, I would like to realize the events for creative power generations. The project will be an important chance to share awareness after 3.11 in Japan, and to think about a new vision of energy from an international viewpoint. Also, taking these experiences into account, I am going to realize an installation work by using water circulation as if it would represent an ecosystem generating a circulatory network.
