Purpose of the residency
To concentrate on the year and works ahead, by starting with a focus on digesting the past and looking atto some new projects to be realized after the residency in 2013. This includes opening up my database and researching the notes made over the year 2012. It also includes concentrated reading and writing, fieldwork, by visiting people and venues to further develop and elaborate my ongoing activities. The possibility to give lectures, workshops and be a guest advisor is also of interest and hopes to be developed.
Plan during the residency
In order to research several projects and new works, dealing with cinema and contemporary spectacle. The culture of motor sports will be a focus, as is a research into urban lighting and the qualities of the Tokyo subway network. Further research will lead into the cinema, the history of cinematographic landscape from an Asian and predominantly Japanese point of view. No exhibitions have been planned, but I hope to show my films and possibly install one of my installations. This could be the outcome of my residency, rather than the activity during the residency.
