Purpose of the residency
As I have been to Tokyo several times (in 2008 and 2011) and having experienced how much the city and its people influenced my work I needed to come back. One of my last works, titled „Feed and Bleed", was developed under the media influence of 3/2011. Now I want to share parts of this work with Tokyo people and get in discussion with them. Second of all I want to get in touch with Tokyo based artist, having exchanges and finding collaborations .
Plan during the residency
During my residency period in TWS, I will do research on movement material concerning to what we know as „Bambi". Different cultural approaches to the character of a Bambi, which is just a synonym for timidity and fragility of nature. I want to try to understand the special approach to Bambis in the japanese culture, e.g. so if possible, I would like to make a short trip to Nara Park.
After that I will do some recording of the Bambi-moves editing them and making a video installation out of it.
Lately I've been experimenting with the possibility of giving different spectacles to the audience with different colour filters in it. The effect of it: the message and the content of the story is totally different, depending on which coloured spectales the viewer chooses (red or blue). I want to continue this research and see how we might use them for video-installations. Which colour has what kind of effect on the perception of the movement?
