Purpose of the residency
To assimilate different elements of cultures by living in foreign places for three months and realizing the historic city with my own observation. Through the habitual way of creation to express the culture shock. And expect that I can find new viewpoints by exchanging the life experiences and learning from each other creativity in the same environment.
Plan during the residency
Through this project, I will observe objects, sights and events occurring in the resident city, and try to identify the foreign culture to contrast to the original cultures. Through the different traffic routes, I will try to find out the differences and similarity of different areas. As an artist, my body is a medium to be inserted into the city to be the subject. By analyzing the concepts of architecture and visual arts, I will try to express and to answer through the format of installation. As for being at a foreign location, it would provide me different inspiration in this foreign location. After the residency, I should be able to bring the nutrition I absorb back to my motherland, Taiwan to form an artistic dialogue with more fullness.
