Purpose of the residency

The purpose of our participation derives from the idea of small actions or interventions more present in Tokyo than other places. Here, there is a potential of translating urban spaces into micro-built prototypes, which in turn are able to redefine current relationships amongst people, objects and form. During the last months, these urban prototypes have been referred to as "a-temporal fake objects". They are called this way because they have never really existed, but by craft, material and technology, they are placed in a foreign [yet familiar] time that could speculate a real existence, in an unknown place. However, they can also be used here and now.

Plan during the residency

The month will be alternating segments between
1) observation/research, 2) documentation/production and 3) revision.
1) A field study will have to be conducted every couple of days in order to observe 'Informal Acts' to be documented and understood.
2) The research would then be translated by drawing and/or collage and/or photograph into a graphical language and catalogued in the 'Encyclopedia'.
3) The action itself would necessitate or create an object that could/should be supplanted into the territory examined.
Each varying act will respectively necessitate its own unique research, representation and output.
