Purpose of the residency
I am enthusiastic about the prospect of developing my artistic practice through communication and research- my focus for the TWS residency will be on animation artworks that combine/juxtapose the aesthetic of Japanese Butoh performance and Manga animation with my present practice. Open to the prospect of collaboration- I envision making work that combines concept, choreography, sound and visuals. I see this as an excellent opportunity to transcend my own practice- to create something I have never seen before. In this line of works I will develop relationships and collaborate with Japanese Contemporary Artists.
Plan during the residency
I am with two ideas; One is creating an animation and other one is a puppet show. These both will take form by collective understanding; for the animation I would like to conduct a workshop with elementary school student and aimed at to develop a puppet show by another workshop with senior citizens in Tokyo.
Following these plans I have to go through a research to search the deep aesthetics of Japanese Butoh performance and Manga animation. And at the end of the residency would like to present the work.
