Purpose of the residency

In this opportunity, I plan to collect error data from the clean society in Tokyo. These are something that we don’t want to look at or show usually due to excessive rationalization. Recently it seems that Japan is more idealized than its reality, especially in Tokyo.
I feel like I have been wrapped by a plastic film and packaged. I feel like we are wrapping and packaging everything, but we have been wrapped and packaged as similarities to products. I would like to use the opportunity to capture the reality of Tokyo during this residence.
I assume “Myth” in the theme of this residence “Dialogue of Myth”, has a link with the rational, and therefore, I would like to make a sculpture.

Plan during the residency

・Collect the data of the errors from the clean society in Tokyo by photos and sentences.
・Make drawings from the data.
・Make sculptures by clay about the theme of this residence “Dialogue of Myth”,
・Records the movie about the work.
・Break the statue after the Open Studio.

Activities during the residency

The theme of my works has been "our savageness which cannot fit in the excessive rational society”. And I would like to confirm how our society goes too rational direction. In japan, now is the time for preparing for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. So I researched how our society was changing too rational during this opportunity. Too rational change delete old, traditional and original things, and it also makes inorganic contraction site. I felt that our savageness was getting lost by too rational society. It ensured my doubt that our society is getting too rational. During the residency, I tried to make big sculpture which use a primitive way named “WADUMI”. And also I could find my own Asian identity from visiting many Japanese and Asian museums in Tokyo. I could feel the relation between the primitive power in the ancient pottery named HANIWA and the savageness which is included in my works.
