Profile

JOINE Office for Design was founded by Maarten Baptist (1976). 'To me, designing is playing; following my own intuition', explains the designer from the Netherlands. JOINE Office for Design was founded in 2008, from the network of Maarten Baptist, after WATdesign (founded 10 2002) was disbanded. Maarten graduated in 2002 from the Design Academy Eindhoven, within the Man and Living department (senior lecturer Gijs Bakker, director Li Edelkoort). More than 250,000 pieces of his graduation project, the 'Open air' cutlery, have been sold.

Within the media field, Maarten Baptist also presents an imposing curriculum: with more than 1,000 publications in magazines and newspapers including Wallpaper, Forbes and the New York Times, with (annual) presentations at international design events, such as the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Dutch Design Week Eindhoven, ICFF New York, the Moscow Design Week, 100% Design Tokyo and with exhibitions in cities such as Seoul, Saint-Etienne, London, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, Paris.
