update: 2026.1.5

Synphysica is a Taiwan-based art–science collective founded in 2018, working at the intersection of ecological conservation, media art, and technology. Integrating living plants, biosensing systems, and large-scale installations, the collective explores complex entanglements between humans, non-human life, and environmental systems through research-driven artistic practice.

Synphysica approaches artistic practice as a process shaped by site-specific ecological conditions and long-term environmental observation. Rather than treating nature as a representational subject, the collective works with living organisms, environmental sensing systems, and material-based installations, allowing ecological processes to actively influence artistic outcomes. Grounded in field research and adaptive experimentation, Synphysica integrates biological responses, climatic variations, and environmental data as generative elements. By combining ecological science with perspectives from media art and material culture, the practice explores how human and non-human agencies co-exist and co-produce environments, positioning art as an evolving system embedded within its surrounding ecology.
