Purpose of the residency
During my one month stay I would like to explore and try to understand Tokyo as much as I can and relate to it in a work of "sentimental science fiction". I want to inform myself about technical (specially robotic) developments in Japan and visit related places. I would like to learn about traditional Japanese culture as much as about things like the famous Japanese noise scene and it would be great if my assitant/gf (who is an art historian) could come later to visit me so I can reflect on these things with her. Together with Ensemble Modern and the interpret I will work on my piece "Sun Rise Tool". I am also curious to see what the role and importance of culture is in times of a major nuclear catastrophy.
