Participating Project Research Residency Program
Activity Based Sweden
Period 2012.11 - 2012.12
Purpose of the residency

My research at Tokyo Wonder Site is within the frame of my project to translate the experience, knowledge and surroundings of Collective Acts, a series of thematised gathering with selected guests that I have organised and moderated since 2008, into prospective publication in order to share the experience not only collectively but publicly, and to create chains of social interactions. It would sum up the whole social projects I have been engaged last couple of years in relation to my identity. I would like to meet, discuss, get inspired and involve local creators and people related to food to participate in the process of this assignment.

Plan during the residency

I plan to create a platform to discuss the notion of hospitality in relation to national identity and cultural diplomacy/exchange, which is essential quality in the series of my social project Collective Acts, with people involved in national representation, hospitality business, and/or any activity to host people as well as those from abroad who are received by the Japanese and have other cultural reference point to the subject. I research on social media and platform related to food in contemporary society in Tokyo, and arrange meetings with editors, designers, food specialists and other relevant people for "editorial meeting" to discuss to develop the ideas and possibly initiate the collaboration to make non-retrospective publication on Collective Acts.
