Purpose of the residency

During my residency at SeMA Nanji, I plan to further develop A Room with Small Chrysanthemums, an ongoing project tracing the life of a person who was forced to move from Korea to Okinawa during the war. Alongside archival and field research in Korea, I will repeatedly visit Sewoon Sangga to explore what kinds of questions its landscape of accumulated electronic components might generate for my practice. Through dialogue with artists, writers, and researchers from diverse backgrounds, I hope to deepen both my research and my artistic practice.

• Research and production for A Room with Small Chrysanthemums
• Archival and field research in Sinyewon and other locations in Korea
• Research at Sewoon Sangga, Seoul
• Dialogue and exchange with local artists, researchers, and writers
• Development of photographic and moving-image works based on the research
