Castillo’s core interests lie in the interplay between planetary urbanization and the terraforming processes geoengineering Earth. His work focuses on the critical infrastructures that renders the planet as a designed object: from weather modification programs and climate finance to the territorial implications of the agricultural stack. His ongoing research strands include Skynomics, which examines the promises and pitfall of the commodification of the atmosphere, and Foodscapes, a long-term inquiry into the architectures and ecologies sustaining global food systems. Moving between fieldwork, archival research, and speculative design, his practice engages in a form of infrastructural activism by exposing the spatial instruments through which power operates and exploring how they might be repurpose toward more just planetary futures.
