Profile

Kim Hong-hee, Ph. D. in Art History, has played an important role in the development of Korean contemporary art through various roles of art historian, art critic, and curator. Some of her activities include being the Artistic Director of 2006 Gwngju Biennale, Commissioner of the Korean Pavilion in Venice Biennale 2003, Commissioner of Kwangju Biennale 1995, and Organizer of the Seoul Fluxus Festival 1993. As the Director of SSamzie Space of Korea, she continues to support and define the emerging and alternative art scene of Korea. As a recipient of several Korean prestigious cultural awards, she has published many books, participated in international symposiums, and mounted ground-breaking exhibitions in the subjects of Korean contemporary art, Feminism art, technological art, and performance art. She has been teaching at the Art Department of Hong-ik University Seoul.
