About the program
This program, presented in conjunction with the Ensemble Modern(EM), leaders in the world of modern music, draws on the thirty years of experience the multinational members of EM have gathered since their formation in 1980 to nurture the next generation of young musicians. As a Japan lacks the number of places where modern music may be studied that we find in the West, there was a need for a place where the latest compositional methods, performance technology and technique, performance interpretation and special performance methods could be studied. By focusing on the creation of a single modern music together with composers and performers on the global stage, we aim to provide a place where participants can be exposed to the viewpoints and lifestyles of top-tier musicians, and grasp the essential nature of music. The program also includes a series on "EAST×WEST TOWARDS NEW TRADITIONS" where we take a fresh look at traditional Asian music from a modern viewpoint.
